Arabica makes up a 70% of the world's coffee production today. It is generally sweeter and has a mixture of fruits, florals, chocolate and nuts depending on its origin.

Generally, it is more expensive than Robusta. This is because it is much more delicate and needs more specific cultivation requirements, such as weather and altitude.

Coffee beans from the Arabica species are generally oval, have a pronounced center crease and are larger than Robusta beans.

  4. Robusta Coffee

Robusta Coffee originates from the beans of the Coffee canephora plant, the origins of which are in Africa.

Robusta Coffee accounts for 30% of the World's coffee production and it is mostly grown in Vietnam, India, West Africa, Indonesia and other parts of South East Asia.

Robusta is good for the caffeine junkies as it generally has about 25% more caffiene.

Coffee beans from the Robusta species are generally smaller and more circular than Arabica beans.
